At Mzansi Stream HQ, we get really excited when we are able to showcase the best in SA music and give all artist a platform to shine; so when we were afforded the ultimate opportunity to have a young chat with one of SA’s most loved Hip-Hop aficionados, we basically jumped at the chance!
ProVerb as we all know him or Tebogo Thekisho by birth, had his humble beginnings in the dusty town of Kimberley, living with his grandmother. He describes his upbringing as simple and humble but quite balanced.
Speaking to him made us quickly realise that his longevity within this very fickle music industry is definitely not by chance or sheer luck but rather a clear affirmation of a man who takes every waking moment as an opportunity to do better and be better. It is rare to find someone in the entertainment industry who is ready to just open up and be honest about life, aspirations, inspirations and of course love – which he has no problem boasting about and tells us how even though things have been incredibly topsy-turvy in light of his recent divorce, that still he is completely in love with love!

He is the no holds barred kinda guy who, we can tell, has no time to be fake and pretenses are not even an option. The crazy thing is that usually with interviews there has to be some kind of sugarcoating or just some ironing out but ProVerb made it very easy for us to delve into his love for music, his family, and humanity on a whole.
The SA music industry has seen many legends come and go with the likes of Brenda Fassie, Hugh Masakela, Arthur Mafokate, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse but to mention a few and the list goes on. It is safe to say that ProVerb will eventually be right up there with these legends and doing this while breaking boundaries in television, his amazing motivational workshops, and the list just seems to go on and on. Did we mention that he is the Executive Producer for SA Idols, well indeed he is!
